Marty,
Thanks for the clarification. Although private communication rarely stays private.

If the GCR is really focused on the gospel rather than just dollars, it stands the chance of being special, if not, well ....

btw, glad to see you back!

Most leaders read stuff like this when "concerned citizens" pass it along. It would be a great way to introduce yourself ;^)

Excellent post. I hope some of those on the GCR will stumble across this series of articles and take them to heart.

Tom-
That is the way it sounded, but not what I meant. My assumption is that input would be sought from these folks along the way. Dr. White, for example, is a state exec and certainly knows what his peers are feeling.

The point I was attempting to make is that by the time the task force is finished, all input should already have been given, processed and utilized. Negative or "minority opinions" after that point will not add anything to the process. If, say, the recommendations are publicized two-three weeks in advance of Orlando, the messengers will have plenty of time to call trustees, their own convention pres, etc, to find out potential impact.

My suggestion regarded public statements of opposition, not private communication of information. The bottom line is that the convention has enough wisdom to decide the issue. Thx.

Great suggestions especially the 5th one.

I do have a question about #4. These women and men must speak in support or be silent? I agree about the politicization of the process, but not sure I would ask anyone to give up their right to speak about various issues especially as it deals with an area they know about.

Good suggestions, I hope they follow them.
This should be an interesting committee - lots of influential, powerful men. The dynamic of the group should be interesting at best.

Many key leaders have decried the effects of blogging. But I bet this GCR process will be very different than it would have been because the members of the committee know that the blogosphere is waiting with bated breath to weigh in on this thing.
